What is your fee structure?
We price each project individually. The size of the home has some impact on pricing but much of the cost comes from the level of design and finishes the client is looking to achieve. We work as a fee-based firm.
How long will my project take?
Once we review the scope of the project we can provide a better timeline of our deliverables, but your contractor will be able to offer a detailed schedule. Things to keep in mind are – permitting, weather, material and appliance stock, and design approval.
How do you handle changes or disagreement within the project?
Every project will have its challenges! We pride ourselves on clear communication and quick resolution. All changes will be communicated and signed off as a change order with any financial impact discussed and agreed upon before execution.
How do you source materials and furnishings?
Part of our experience is that we’ve created a great list of trusted vendors. While pricing varies drastically from vendor to vendor, we offer a percentage off retail that ranges from 5%-15%.
Can I be involved in the decision making process?
Of course – this is your space! To ensure the project goes smoothly we schedule in 2 revisions of design. If changes are made after final design has been signed off, we will charge an additional rate for change orders that will be communicated.
What is included in your fee?
Being a full-service design firm means we handle the overall space plan, furniture layouts, cabinet designs, lighting and electrical layouts, renderings of each space with detailed tech packs to deliver to the contractor. We purchase, track and install all furnishings and accessories as well as regular project check-in to ensure the design is being executed at the highest standard.
Can you recommend contractors and trades?
While we have worked with many great trades and contractors, the ultimate decision is up to the client. We are not liable for any issues or challenges brought on by any person or team outside of Smart Studio Designs.
Can you work within my budget?
Part of the initial consultation is to better understand your project. Interior design is a high-end service and investment. With that understanding, we are also very respectful of your funds and can work within a set budget.
